We cut bombyx mori silk cocoons of 5 grams and dispose off the worm
Then we boiled the cocoons for 30 minutes in 0.02M sodium carbonate to remove the sericin.
Then the silk fibers was rinsed for 20 minutes, 3 times in water
The excess water was squeezed off and allowed to dry overnight.
Then Lithium bromide of 9.3M was added on top of the silk fibers and incubated at 60 degrees for 4 hours.
The silk/LiBr solution was added to the dialysis casette via a syringe.
The casette was dialyzed against ultrapure water for 48 hours, changing the water once in 8 hours.
The silk solution was removed from the casette via a syringe.
The solution was centrifuged twice to remove impurities at 9000 rpm at 5-10 degrees for 20 minutes.
The silk pellet was stored at 4 degrees.
